Urlaub am Meer

Wir haben heuer einen herrlich langen und sehr erholsamen Urlaub in einem Gebiet gemacht, in dem wir vorher noch nie waren, nämlich an der Ostsee, genauer gesagt auf der schönen Insel Rügen. Die lange Anfahrt dorthin haben wir erst mal für ein paar Tage in Schwerin unterbrochen, einer sehr lieben gemütlichen Stadt und von dort aus auch Lübeck, Wismar und natürlich das Schweriner Umland erkundet. Dann ging es über Fischland-Darss-Zingst und einem üppigen verspäteten Frühstück in Stralsund weiter nach Rügen.

This year we had a most lovely and most relaxing holiday trip to a place we never been before - the Baltic Sea and the island Ruegen. It´s a terribly long way from Bavaria up to the north of Germany, so we interrupted the journey first to visit the charming town Schwerin, stood some days there and made short trips to Luebeck, Wismar and the country around. The pretty colourful house in the picture above is taken on Fischland which we passed on our drive to Ruegen. Isn´t it wonderful?


Da begann dann auch der richtig gemütliche Teil der Ferien, wir hatten eine wunderschöne Ferienwohnung mit großem Balkon direkt am Strand, besser gesagt auch noch genau am Hundestrand und so waren wir morgens immer die Ersten und abends hatten wir dann auch nicht weit. Jeden Tag war ein kleiner Ausflug geplant und am späten Nachmittag waren wir wieder daheim auf unserem Balkon, mit Kaffee und Kuchen und ich hatte diesmal sogar mein Häkelzeug dabei, später noch ein kleiner Bummel vor zur Promenade, Abendessen und vielleicht noch ein Kugerl Eis, und zu einem Gläschen Wein wieder heim. Faul sein, nicht viel denken, nichts planen, nichts unbedingt noch schnell erledigen müssen, einfach nur plätschernde Tage und gute Laune.

Then the main part of our holidays begun. We had a most lovely holiday apartment with a big balcony at the beach, and best of all the entrance to the dogs beach was straight at our door, so we were the first ones at the morning there and for our late night walk it was not far to walk, too. Every day we made a little tour on the island to visit the most popular places there, we had our daily walks on the beach and in the woods, too, which are beautifully even and not as steep as the woods are here, and our late afternoon hours we mostly spent on our balcony with coffe and cake, I even did some crochet, then an evening walk into town to have dinner and some ice cream, back home, a glass of wine, some TV or some reading. Really lazy we were, we didn´t plan the next day, we didn´t thought much about what we have to do when we are finally back home here in our own home, just happy days like holidays should be.



Was mir natürlich besonders gut gefallen hat waren die hübschen Häuschen auf der Insel und der Sanddorn, der hat es mir sehr angetan. Wir selber haben mal ein paar Jahre lang immer wieder probiert ihn hier bei uns im Garten heimisch zu machen, aber leider waren entweder die Winter zu streng oder die Wühlmäuse zu fleißig, es hat jedenfalls nie geklappt. Aber auf Rügen wächst er wild an jeder Ecke und sieht prächtig aus.

I was really fascinated by the picturesque houses here and there and the most about the lots of sallow thorns which are growing wild at the island. We tried some years to establish it in our garden, but every year again we failed and finally gave up. But there, at Ruegen, it is growing wild on every corner and the berries are marvellous.

Ein bißchen Pech hatten wir mit dem Wetter, es war leider nur grad einen Tag mal so richtig sonnig und warm, sonst hat es oft genieselt oder der Himmel war zumindest bedeckt und es wehte ein stürmischer Wind. Aber so schlimm war es auch nicht, nur Anni was not amused.

Only the weather was not at it´s best, just for one day the sun was shining, most days it was wet and cloudy and a heavy wind was blowing. But it wasn´t that bad as Anni was thinking.

Und so sind wir jetzt wieder zuhause, die Wochen sind natürlich wieder mal viel zu schnell verflogen. Hier wartet der Garten darauf für den Winter eingemottet zu werden, genauso die Sommerkleidung und die Bienen. Und so gern ich die Arbeiten auch mag, oder zumindest bestimmte Teile davon, so sehr freu ich mich jetzt auch schon auf die langen Wintertage an denen es nichts zu tun gibt als ein warmes Süppchen zu kochen und es sich dann mit dem Strickzeug gemütlich zu machen.

Ich hab noch keinen Blog gelesen seit ich wieder daheim bin, ein paar eMails möcht ich noch schreiben und langsam muß ich auch an die Weihnachtsgeschenke denken. Der Alltag hat mich wieder.

Now we are back home, the weeks flew by so very fast. Here the garden is waiting to be prepared for the winter, also our bees and the summer clothes now should really be washed and stored away. I like this rhythm of the seasons, I like my daily routines and although I still love to be outside and working in the garden, I also am now so much looking forward the long winter days, where all one has to do it to prepare a cup of hot soup and then to sit down and relax and do some knitting.

I haven´t read any of your blogs since I am home again, I also want to write some mails to dear friends and finally make plans for the not so far away Christmas presents. Well, I am really back home.
